If your DNS records show as Missing or fail to validate in myflow, the most common cause isn't a wrong value — it's a formatting issue specific to your domain registrar. Different registrars handle the Name (host) field differently, and a small difference can prevent the record from being recognized.
Step 1 — Check how your registrar formats the name field
Some registrars automatically append your domain name to whatever you type in the Name field. Others require you to enter the full hostname.
Use this as a guide:
Squarespace, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains (now Squarespace) — Enter only the host portion, without your domain. For example only:
_dmarc,mte1._domainkey,www. The registrar adds your domain automatically.Cloudflare — Same as above. Enter just the host portion, e.g.
_dmarc.Some registrars (e.g. older cPanel-based hosts) — Require the full hostname, e.g.
_dmarc.yourdomain.com. Check your registrar's documentation if you're unsure.
⚠️ Common mistake: If your registrar appends the domain automatically and you've also included it in the Name field, the record ends up as _dmarc.yourdomain.com.yourdomain.com — which will never validate.
Step 2 — Verify each record value matches exactly
Go to Settings > Domains in myflow and compare each required record with what's entered at your registrar.
Check:
Type — Is it CNAME, TXT, or A? Make sure you've selected the correct record type.
Name / Host — Does it match what myflow shows, accounting for your registrar's formatting (see Step 1 above)?
Value / Data — Is the value entered exactly as shown — no extra spaces, no missing characters?
TTL — Set to Auto or the lowest available value for faster propagation.
Step 3 — Wait for DNS propagation
After saving changes at your registrar, DNS propagation can take 24–48 hours. During this time, validation errors may still appear in myflow even if the records are correct.
To check current propagation status, you can use a free tool like dnschecker.org — enter the hostname and record type to see whether it has propagated globally.
Step 4 — Reload the Domains view in myflow
Once you've made changes, go to Settings > Domains and reload the page. myflow will re-check the validation status automatically.
💡 Still showing as Missing after 48 hours? Double-check that no duplicate records exist for the same host — some registrars add a conflicting record automatically. If the issue persists, contact myflow support and share a screenshot of your DNS settings.
Once all records are validated, your domain is fully connected and ready to use.
